I wrote The First Scarecrow after coming up with the idea one night, when telling a bed time story for my son Jude. He loved the story so much that I decided to write it.

Throughout the process I had the idea in mind that the two main characters (the farmer and Tom the pumpkin) had a relationship similar to one of a parent and child.

The farmer supports Tom’s ideas and encourages him to keep trying.
